About The Hombre Golf Pocket
Inland of the beach in Panama City Beach (zip 32407), three residential communities sit within roughly half a mile of one another around the Hombre Golf Club: The Glades, Caballeros Estates at Hombre, and Tierra Verde. They were built at different times by different builders, but they share a setting and a basic proposition — golf-course-adjacent living at a lower price point than the beachfront, a short drive rather than a walk from the sand.
They're covered together here because at this distance the practical choice between them is usually about product and price rather than location. A buyer looking at one is realistically choosing among all three.
Not Beachfront — a Marketing Correction
One correction worth making plainly, because the marketing gets it wrong: this pocket is not beachfront. At least one builder's material for Caballeros Estates describes it in beachfront terms; it sits inland at the golf course, well over a mile from the Gulf. It's a genuinely appealing location for the golf and the price, and it's worth being accurate about what it is.
The Glades
The Glades is the most established of the three, with homes built roughly between 1990 and 2002 ranging from about 1,718 to 3,222 square feet. Its streets include North and South Glades Trail, Glades Turn, Hombre Circle, and Grand Heron Drive.
Prices span the widest range of the three, reflecting both the spread of home sizes and the fact that a community built over a decade contains homes in quite different condition. It's also the only one of the three with meaningful search demand under a 'homes for sale' query, which suggests it's the name buyers in this pocket actually know.
Caballeros Estates at Hombre
Caballeros Estates at Hombre is the newest of the three, built by D.R. Horton along Dama Del Mar Way, directly on or adjacent to the Hombre golf course. It runs two product lines in parallel — detached single-family homes and townhomes — under the same community name, so confirm which one a listing is before comparing prices.
Because it's recent construction, its streets are new enough that some mapping and geocoding services don't yet resolve them, and address lookups can be unreliable. That's a data-quality quirk rather than anything about the community itself. To repeat the point above: despite builder copy describing it in beachfront terms, this is an inland golf-course location.
Tierra Verde
Tierra Verde is the smallest and generally the most upscale of the three, on Tierra Verde Trail and Tierra Verde Way. It sits about six-tenths of a mile east of The Glades.
It's occasionally listed together with The Glades by third-party sites, which is understandable given the proximity, but they're distinct communities with separate plats, separate street networks, and different price points.
What to Know About Buying at The Hombre Golf Pocket
The main decision in this pocket is between an established home in The Glades and newer construction at Caballeros Estates, and the honest comparison is condition and warranty versus mature setting and lot position — price them against each other directly rather than assuming newer is automatically the premium. At Caballeros Estates, confirm whether a listing is the detached or townhome product, since both sell under the same community name and finance differently. Across all three, ask what HOA dues cover and whether any golf club membership is included, implied, or entirely separate — proximity to a course does not mean access to it, and that assumption catches buyers out. Verify flood zone and elevation per lot as you would anywhere in the corridor. And treat any 'beachfront' or 'steps from the sand' language about this pocket as marketing rather than geography.
